Miss Rigley
Head of Art
joined The Elms: 1999
As Head of Art at The Elms, Miss Rigley oversees the Art curriculum for Year 1 to Year 6. Miss Rigley is responsible for inspiring a love of art in the pupils through creative and enjoyable lessons. She endeavours to create confident young artists who are interested in different artists and world cultures.
Passion for the subject
Miss Rigley has always loved art and regularly attends workshops for her own personal enjoyment and development. This energy for the subject is then passed on to the pupils who benefit from experiencing more advanced areas of the subject including wet-felting and silk painting – mediums that very few primary schools offer!
Part of The Elms family
Miss Rigley was part of the original team who established The Elms in 1999. During this time, Miss Rigley has been a class teacher to various junior-aged classes as well as being a cover teacher for all year groups and subject specialist lessons.
As well as overseeing the Art department, Miss Rigley is the Official Elms Quizmaster, which involves the organisation of the annual House Quiz and attendance at external National Quiz competitions. Each year Miss Rigley is incredibly proud of the commitment pupils demonstrate to the Quiz team and loves to celebrate their achievements with them.
Giving back to the school community is essential to Miss Rigley. In 2017, Miss Rigley was delighted to win a competition for Paralympian Laura Sugar to visit the school – a fantastic opportunity that the pupils cherished! In addition, Miss Rigley has previously taken on the role of Director for several Year 6 end of year shows – all of which she has loved but her favourite was The Rocky Monster Show in 2006.
