VIEW 2023 GCSE RESULTS BY DEPARTMENT
Mr Bill Penty, Head of Trent College, said, “We are proud of our pupils for their accomplishments in their GCSE courses. It is their hard work, determination, and personal achievements that we celebrate today. My warmest congratulations go to them all and my thanks go to our dedicated staff who continue to support and encourage our pupils in so many ways.”
“The Government has made it clear that grading has returned to the levels of 2019 and before, so I am pleased by how this year’s results bear such positive comparison with those.”
“Year 11 have achieved a higher percentage of entries awarded at grade 4 and above, and while those achieving the top grades are a decline on last year, they still compare well with pre-covid trends.”
“We look forward to welcoming our pupils back to Trent College next month when they will begin their studies in our vibrant Sixth Form.”
Celebrating their outstanding grades today were:
Freddie Lester has achieved nine grade 9, one grade 8 and one 6. Freddie said “I’m really pleased, I’ve done better than I expected. I was so nervous this morning and I’m pleased to get it over with. The learning support that I have received at Trent has really helped me to achieve these results, which we just didn’t think were possible. I also really wanted to beat my brother’s results!”
Nikil Bhanot has achieved nine grade 9s and two grade 8s and said “I’m so, so happy! I had been feeling really calm but this morning the nerves really kicked in. With all the news in the media about grades being pushed down, I was very nervous. I can now go to study Maths, Chemistry and Biology at A level and pursue my aim of studying Medicine.”
Abigail Culleton achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s, two grade 7s. “I’m definitely a bit of a perfectionist, and I set my standards really high, so on the whole, I’m pleased with my results. Maybe a tad disappointed with the 7s, but I’ve come to terms with it and I’m quite content overall. Looking ahead, I’m headed to Trent College Sixth Form to tackle A Levels in Business, Spanish, Chemistry, and I’m even looking to take on the LIBF Finance course.
The upcoming years are going to be pretty busy, especially as I’m already thinking about university. I’ve got my eyes on a path that combines Business Management with either Spanish or Fashion. Honestly, I’ve been pondering over courses and A Levels since Year 8. I’ve always been one to set lofty goals for myself, as academic success means a lot to me. I’ve been a planner and organizer since I can remember; I’ve always wanted to structure things well and achieve top grades. It’s all about ensuring a solid career and a promising future.
The excitement is real as I look forward to beginning my A Level journey. Friends who’ve recently left Sixth Form have told me how quickly time flies. Emotions are all over the place right now, but I’m prepared to embrace the challenge and dive into this new chapter with enthusiasm.”
Daniel Conway achieved eight grade 9s and three grade 8s. “This is very good news, I’m so relieved. I’m so grateful for the constant support of my teachers who have assisted me in achieving these results. Their ongoing support and guidance have really helped to achieve these fantastic results that will help me to go on to a bright future.”
Also celebrating excellent results are:
Henry Crocker achieved 11 GCSEs including four grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s. Henry said, “I received 9 in all three subjects that I am going to study at A level. I also got a 9 in Physics. I’ve enjoyed my time at Trent and I’m looking forward to continuing into Sixth Form and starting my A levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology.
Kareena Gandhi achieved 11 GCSEs including three grade 9s, three grade 8s, and three grade 7s. She said “I’m quite proud of myself. I’ve received the results I was expecting, obviously there are some areas where I had hoped to have done better, but overall, I’m pleased with my results.
The help from my teachers throughout my GCSEs has been great, they really helped ensure I stayed on top of my deadlines and if I was dropping below my actual abilities they would help and support me get back on track to what I’m capable of achieving. I’m looking forward to studying for my A levels at Trent College Sixth Form. I’ll be taking Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics.”
Yusef Al-Habaibeh received five Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and one Grade 7 He said, “I feel fantastic today, I’m very happy with my results and all I have achieved. I’m particularly impressed with my results for my English Language (Grade 9) and Maths (Grade 9). I’m looking forward to continuing my studies in A Level Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Further Maths.
I aspire to go to a leading university to study Medicine to help people with conditions similar to mine, so I am really thrilled this is a step forward in that direction, particularly that I have received Grade 9 in all the selected A level subjects“.
As I have a medical condition which causes me to miss lesson time, my teachers worked with me to understand the support I needed. The teachers at Trent College spent extra time talking through subjects with me so I understood what was required when I needed to complete work from home.
Yusef’s family are equally proud and said:
“Yusef has had an outstanding performance with his GCSE results, we are really pleased with his results. Trent College has worked very closely with us as a family to ensure they understood Yusef’s medical condition and have proactively worked with us to implement support plans to ensure Yusef could study partly at home and ultimately sit his examinations under conditions that supported his needs. We are grateful for the way Trent College has responded to our needs as a family.”
